Use the Crystal Reports Migration Tool to migrate data-push reports to data-pull reports, which are recommended in ClearQuest 7.1.

Releases prior to ClearQuest 7.1 support a data-push reporting model. In this model, a ClearQuest client runs a query and starts Crystal Reports to format the output by using a report format that is saved in the ClearQuest repository. Beginning with ClearQuest 7.1, the reporting model has changed to a data-pull model. In this model, Crystal Reports connects to ClearQuest databases by using the ClearQuest Reporting Driver as a data source to retrieve query results that populate reports.

The ClearQuest Reporting Driver partially implements the Java Database Connectivity (JDBC) API to enable various reporting tools to consume ClearQuest data. The reporting driver implementation uses the Rational Change Management API (CM API) to interface with ClearQuest, thus preserving the ClearQuest security model and providing data access from third party reporting tools like SAP Crystal Reports.

In ClearQuest version 7.1 and later, you can create data-pull reports by using Crystal Reports and the ClearQuest Reporting Driver. You can convert existing data-push reports to the data-pull model using the Crystal Reports Migration Tool.

Installation Instructions

  1. Create a temporary directory named \crmt .
  2. Download the archive to the \crmt directory, and extract to the file system.
  3. After extracting the archive, view the document <install_dir>\crmt\ReadMe.html for instructions about configuring and using the migration tool.
