Summary

Rational Functional Tester (RFT) and Rational Performance Tester (RPT) are used to record and develop scripts to check availability and performance from IBM Tivoli Composite Application Manager for Transactions (ITCAMfT) Robotic Response Time (RRT / T6) agents. Use the information in this article to identify what versions of RFT and RPT are supported by ITCAMfT.

Steps

RFT and RPT versions supported for use with ITCAM for Transactions

Some versions of Rational software supported for use on RRT/T6 agents are no longer supported by Rational support. In these cases, ITCAMfT provides "best effort" support for problems encountered in the ITCAMfT environment.

If the problem is attributed to Rational software, you must upgrade to a version of RFT or RPT supported by Rational and ITCAMfT before troubleshooting can continue.

Use the following lifecycle and discontinuance information to check the current state of support by Rational for your version of RFT and RPT:

The following tables show what versions of Rational software are supported for use with different versions of ITCAMfT.
 
Version numbers use this format:
V.R.M.F (V: Version; R: Release; M: Modification; F: FixPack

When the Version, Release or Modification element in the version number changes, that version is not supported until ITCAMfT certification tests are completed and these tables are updated to reflect the new level of support.

If the supported version of RPT or RFT excludes the FixPack, it means all fixpacks for that release are also supported.

For example, RPT 9.0.0 is listed as a supported version meaning, RPT 9.0.0.1 is also supported.
There might be exceptions. If that happens, the following tables give details of the exception.

  • Use the following lifecycle and discontinuance information to check the current state of support by Rational for your version of RPT:

  • 64-bit versions of RPT are not supported for use with ITCAMfT Rational Integration Support
    The 32-bit option must be selected during RPT installation
     
  • For script recording and development, RPT can be installed with ITCAMfT integration only in a Windows® environment
     
  • Linux® and AIX can be used only for playing back RPT http and https scripts. (Run in 32-bit mode)
     
  • RPT 8.7 is NOT supported by ITCAMfT
    RPT users needing new features introduced since RPT 8.6.0.x MUST upgrade to RPT 9.0 or later and install 7.4.0.1-TIV-CAMRT-IF0008 or later
     
  • Support for RPT 9.1.0.x & 9.1.1.x was released in ITCAMfT 7.4.0.1 IF0022

    This interim fix includes a new version of Rational Integration Support (RIS) to be installed on the RPT recording machine but includes the following note:
    "IF0022 MUST NOT be installed on Linux® T6 agents where 7.4.0.1 IF0019 is installed"
    IF0019 was released to address a specific ITM v6.3.0.7 compatibility issue (IV93911) on Linux® machines.

    RIS installation is not affected by this restriction because scripts for use in an ITCAMfT environment can be recorded only in RPT installed on Windows® machines.

    Scripts compiled in RPT 9.1.0.x can be exported for use on T6 agents that run on the following platforms:
    * Windows®
    * AIX
    * Linux® (ITM 6.3.0.6 or earlier)

    Support for RPT 9.1.0.x scripts on T6 agents that run on Linux® machines where ITM 6.3.0.7 or later is installed, is provided in 7.4.0.0-TIV-CAMRT-FP0002 & 7.4.0.2-TIV-CAMRT-IF*
     
  • RPT 9.0 support was introduced in 7.4.0.1-TIV-CAMRT-IF0008.  Check the readme file for IF0008 to understand the requirements for installing this update.
     
  • The same requirements apply to subsequent interim fixes listed in the RPT Support Matrix.
     
  • Support for Windows® 2016 Standard Edition
    * The minimum T6 agent version for Windows® 2016 is 7.4.0.1.IF0022 or 7.4.0.2 base.  
    * The minimum Rational Integration Support (RIS) version needed to support Windows® 2016 depends on the RPT version.
       RPT supports Windows® 2016 from V9.1.1 so the minimum RIS version to work with RPT 9.1.1 under Windows® 2016 is 7.4.0.1.22 and 7.4.0.2 base.
    To work with RPT version 9.2 or 9.5 under Windows® 2016, the RIS version has to be 7.4.0.1.37 (or later) or 7.4.0.2.06 (or later).
    * RPT SAP/Citrix/Siebel scripts are not supported on Windows® 2016 Standard Edition
