Problem conclusion
The problem was solved with help of floating point arithmetic for the calculation of the buffer pool total hit ratio and the values of the buffer pool total counters. All the counters are divided by 1000 and shown with multiplier "K" at the end. The reason of the issue was incorrect accumulation of the 32-bits counters QBSTGET, QBSTRIO, QBSTSPP, QBSTLPP, QBSTDPP of the QBST section within 31-bits variables being too small for this purpose. Comments. 1. Currently ISPF monitoring dialogs can display correctly only values not exceeding 4295M (2*32-1) in the DGOMSWBM and DGOMSWBR panels. If a value is more than this limit, it is displayed as a remainder as if the value has been divided by the 4295M constant. 2. Hit ratio -0.0 means that the value is small and negative but not equal 0. --------------- SYSMOD TITLE: BUFFER POOL HIT RATIO SHOWS WRONG VALUES KEYWORDS: ISPF monitoring HIT RATIO WRONG VALUES
