Abstract

This SupportPac contains a program for formatting IBM MQ statistics and accounting SMF records. There are other programs that help you monitor your IBM MQ system on z/OS.

This SupportPac provides an improved program for printing accounting and statistics available in IBM MQ for z/OS.

It also provides a program that monitors queue and channel information, producing output that can be processed by a spreadsheet to monitor data over time.

Possible Uses
Processing the IBM MQ SMF data, and giving suggestions on some possible out of line conditions.
The monitoring programs can be used to show usage of queues and channels over time

New in this Release

  • Expanded OpenTelemetry statistics to cover IBM MQ for z/OS 9.4.5, which now includes:
    • OpenTelemetry with publish/subscribe messaging
    • OpenTelemetry with the IMS Bridge

Installation Instructions

Follow the link to Fix Central in the Download Package section of this page.

Select the mp1b_5_12 file, and accept the license when prompted. This is the latest version of MP1B and is compatible with all supported versions of MQ for z/OS.

Download the MP1B compressed file to a temporary directory.
 
Decompress the .zip file.
 
Copy the two binary files from the extracted .zip archive into XMIT format data sets on your z/OS machine. This can be achieved using SFTP to copy the binaries to USS. From the extracted archive directory, start an SFTP session and issue:
 
mput mp1b*.xmit.bin
Using SSH or an OMVS shell, issue the following commands to transfer the Unix files into z/OS data sets:
 
cp -P "RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=3200" mp1b.load.xmit.bin "//'<HLQ>.MP1B.LOAD.XMIT'"
cp -P "RECFM=FB,LRECL=80,BLKSIZE=3200" mp1b.jcl.xmit.bin "//'<HLQ>.MP1B.JCL.XMIT'"
Now you can TSO RECEIVE the XMIT data sets into their destinations:
 
TSO RECEIVE INDSN(MP1B.JCL.XMIT)
TSO RECEIVE INDSN(MP1B.LOAD.XMIT)
Note: you may need to specify the output data set name when asked for restore parameters, for example:
 
DA('<HLQ>.MP1B.JCL')
DA('<HLQ>.MP1B.LOAD')
