PK09296: FTP CLIENT DOES NOT CLOSE THE FTP SESSION WHEN THE REMOTE SERVER CLOSES THE CONTROL CONNECTION

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• The FTP client is in session with a FTP server.  If the FTP
  server closes the control connection, the FTP client does not
  close the connection.  This can happen if the server is
  configured with an inactivity timeout.
  If a subcommand is issued to the client, it will be rejected
  with message:
  EZA1457I You must first issue the 'OPEN' command
  .
  However, the OPEN command will fail with message:
  EZA1550E You are already connected to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
  .
  The FTP client should end the control connection when it has
  determined the server closed the connection.  Routine inSession
  should be cleaning up the control connection.

  The FTP client was not closing the control connection with the
  server when the server sent a FIN.  This caused subsequent
  commands issued by the client to fail.  The FTP client should
  close the control connection when the server times out or
  closes the connection.

Problem conclusion

• The FTP client (inSession) has been changed to close the control
  connection when the server does.
  
  This APAR is the equivalent of PQ82254 reported against IBM
  Communication Server for z/OS Version 1 Release 5.
