APAR status

  • Closed as duplicate of another APAR.

Error description

  • With compaction in resettable mode after at least one reset,
an IllegalMonitorStateException is thrown and a crash occurs. A
variant of this can occur where in the process of thowing the
exception a deadlock occurs which can cause a hang rather than a
    crash.

The stack trace of the exception:
    java.lang.IllegalMonitorStateException: JVMLK002: current thread
    not owner
    .at java.lang.ref.Reference.process(Native Method)
    .at java.lang.ref.Reference.access$300(Reference.java:36)
    .at
    java.lang.ref.Reference$ReferenceHandler.run(Reference.java:116)

    DEFECT: 88565

Local fix

  • A work-around for this problem is to set
      -Xnocompactgc
This is not meant to be a long-term solution because this can
ultimately result in an out of memory condition within the JVM
    heap.
