Test Results

Definitions

Regression: An error in the Maintenance Delivery Vehicle (MDV) that produces incorrect or unexpected behavior causing a supported feature to stop functioning as designed.
This includes:

  • Coding errors that cause a regression
  • Documentation or packaging problems that cause a regression
  • Errors reported in a new function delivered in a MDV that cause a regression

Incomplete: An error in the MDV has not regressed, but does not work as designed.
This includes:

  • Fixed APARs which did not solve the original problem but did not break anything new
  • APARs reporting documentation errors, such as readme errors, that cause problems applying an MDV but do not lead to a regression

Notes:
  • Regression and incomplete APARs are considered fix-in-error or MDV-in-error
  • Definitions above apply only to valid APARs that result in product fixes (APARs returned as working-as-designed are not assessed for being fix-in-error)
  • Issues in major releases due to new functionality do not apply in this definition

There are no known regressions to report.

Known Side Effects

Review the following list of known issues and open defects:
New to this release
TP-64492
When you upgraded the product from V10.0.0 to V10.0.1, and then to V10.0.2.1, you cannot roll back to V10.0.1 of the product. You must uninstall V10.0.2.1, and then install the desired version.

If you directly upgraded the product either from V10.0.0 or V10.0.1 to V10.0.2.1, then you can roll back to the previous version of the product, that is, V10.0.0 or V10.0.1.

The following table illustrates the rollback status when you upgrade the product from previous versions to V10.0.2.1:

Installed version Upgraded path Rollback status
V10.0.0 V10.0.0 > V10.0.1 > V10.0.2.1 Rollback to V10.0.1 and V10.0.0: Failure
V10.0.0 V10.0.0 > V10.0.1 > V10.0.2 > V10.0.2.1 Rollback to V10.0.2: Success
Rollback to V10.0.1 and V10.0.0: Failure
V10.0.0 V10.0.0 > V10.0.2.1 Rollback to V10.0.0: Success
V10.0.1 V10.0.1 > V10.0.2.1 Rollback to V10.0.1: Success

When you create and edit a dataset, and then try to add a column to the dataset from a test, you might receive a message occasionally. The message indicates that you are unable to perform the edit operation. This message is displayed because the editor might have locked the file. You can resolve this issue by using any of the following methods:
  • Stop the dataset process by finding the java -jar datasetservice.jar service in the Task Manager, and then start the dataset service manually.
  • Wait for 15 minutes for a timeout to occur so that the dataset file is released.
Previous known issues that still apply
TP-59612 You must install Rational Functional Tester V10.0.2 on Mac OS by using Installation Manager V1.9.1. For more information, see http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=ibm11072690.

Known Limitations

Viewing help topics from the context sensitive help and the product Welcome

This product includes context sensitive help and a product Welcome, which, in turn, include links to the information center help. These links only work while the correct version of the information center help is open.

Microsoft Silverlight support:

Rational Functional Tester supports recording Silverlight applications only on 32 bit Internet Explorer.

Microsoft .NET 4.5 support

Recording actions on the drop-down list of a RibbonFilterMenu is not supported.

PDF 9.0, 10.0 and 11.0 file testing support

When you record on the Reader toolbar buttons in Adobe Reader 10.0 and 11.0, the action is recorded as click(atPoint(x,y)).

When you record on a PDF file that is opened in a Mozilla Firefox browser, you must first record actions in the browser and then begin the recording on the PDF file.

Playback fails when only the find() API is used to locate objects. As a workaround, click the captured object first and then play back.

In Rational Functional Tester Microsoft Studio Integration, the PDF crashes during the playback, following a few clicks.

Other limitations and workarounds

To enable Google Chrome for testing, the extension must be installed from the Chrome Web Store. For more information, see technote 1699063.

An Oracle Java Runtime Environment (JRE) must be installed and enabled for testing Google Chrome with Rational Functional Tester. For more information, see technote 1973262.

For improving the performance of Rational Functional Tester with the Mozilla Firefox browser, see technote 1995375.

Clearcase integration is only supported with a 32-bit installation of Rational Functional Tester.

For testing 32 bit applications on Linux, RFT must be installed with 32-bit architecture.

For testing 64 bit applications on Linux, RFT must be installed with 64-bit architecture.

When running mobile Web UI tests with Safari on iOS devices, tests containing JavaScript alerts fail to run. This is an Appium limitation.

With parallel test execution in 9.2.1, mobile devices are sometimes listed twice in the Run Test wizard, once for running the test with Chrome, and once for using the generic browser that is included with Rational Functional Tester. Be sure to select only one or the other. Parallel execution on an individual mobile device is not supported.

Helpful Hints For Obtaining Technical Assistance:

Before you contact IBM Rational Software Support, gather the background information that you need to describe the problem. When you describe a problem to an IBM software support specialist, be as specific as possible and include all relevant background information so that the specialist can help you solve the problem efficiently. To save time, know the answers to these questions:

  • What software versions were you running when the problem occurred?
  • Do you have logs, traces, or messages that are related to the problem?
  • Can you reproduce the problem? If so, what steps do you take to reproduce it?
  • Is there a workaround for the problem? If so, be prepared to describe the workaround.

If you have helpful information to diagnose or identify the problem on your system, you can provide this data by following the instructions to exchange information with IBM Technical Support.
