Error description
Customer has applied maintenance to CICS TS Ver.5.1 and now a CICS Web Service using DFHWSSE WS-Security is failing with the following error: .

Internal Server Error

CICS TS: Unhandled Pipeline Error

Release: 680

. DFHPI0500 xxxx The CICS Pipeline Manager DFHPIPM encountered an error while trying to link to program DFHWSSE1. The program abended. PIPELINE: ISSWS. This results in abendAWSD in program DFHWSSE1. . The error is an abend AWSD caused by a GET_CONTAINER getting RESP=22 RESP2=11 - LENGERR. . The PUT Container DFH-HANDLERPLIST was performed by DFHPIPM2 UI31201 x'2B6C'. [PTF UI31201 was recently applied] . A subsequent GET Container DFH-HANDLERPLIST was performed by DFHWSSE1 DFHYI680 X'2C72'. . The GET length was 00000A24. There is a mismatch in the lengths used by the GET and PUT.

Problem summary
**************************************************************** * USERS AFFECTED: All CICS users with APAR PI32967 applied. * **************************************************************** * PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: Message DFHPI0500 issued after an abend * * AWSD occurred. * **************************************************************** * RECOMMENDATION: * **************************************************************** In the reported problem, Web Services Security (WS-Security) was in use - the service provider and requestor pipelines contained a <wsse_handler> element in their configfiles. . When these pipelines were used, the CICS supplied WS Security message handler DFHWSSE1 was driven. This did a GET CONTAINER for DFH-HANDLERPLIST. However, this container was created earlier by DFHPIPM2 using a PUT CONTAINER. When created, its length was derived from structure DFHWSSE_OPTS. When DFHWSSE1 did the GET, it used a length derived from an internal structure called DFHWSSE_OPTIONS but it was 1 byte shorter. . DFHWSSE1 was intolerant of this 1 byte discrepancy and returned a LENGERR which produced an AWSD abend followed by message DFHPI0500 being written to the console. . Keywords: msgDFHPI0500 PI0500 abendAWSD
Problem conclusion
UI31201 UI31203 Structures DFHWSSE_OPTS and DFHWSSE_OPTIONS have been changed so that they now contain matching fieldnames and lengths. . DFHWSSE1 has also been modified to be more tolerant of an unexpected length value when it completes the GET CONTAINER. . In addition, the Knowledge Center has been updated to include explanations for abend codes AWSA, AWSD, AWSJ and AWSX.
