Data Server Manager (DSM) shows wrong CPU usage comparing to vmstat on AIX

Troubleshooting

Problem

Data Server Manager (DSM) shows wrong CPU usage comparing to vmstat on AIX

Symptom

DSM shows wrong CPU usage, comparing to vmstat, sometimes even greater than 100%.

Cause

If the monitored database is a DPF (partitioned) database, the CPU utilization is divided by member numbers, so the total of CPU can be > 100% in DSM.
If the monitored database is not a DPF database, and the db2level is V10.4 and lower on AIX, then this issue is related to the DB2 APAR IT05179.

Resolving The Problem

To avoid the issue for monitored databases V10.5 FP4 and lower on AIX:
In the Monitoring Profile configuration, select In-Memory Monitoring (set to ON).
Check the Collect system and database CPU metrics for AIX system by SSH checkbox.

Make sure that the SSH configuration is correct by following the steps from the Technote: How to configure SSH for Data Server Manager
