IBM Support

Hardware health check interval on QRadar Network Security sensors

Question & Answer

Question

How often does the QRadar Network Security sensor check its hardware status?

Answer

The XGS automatically checks the status of its hardware to verify that the sensor is not experiencing any issues. This health check runs every 24 hours and checks the following items:

  • CPU model name, core count, frequency, and cache size
  • Total memory size
  • HDD/SSD overall self-assessment test
  • SSD S.M.A.R.T life left attribute
If any of these checks fall outside of normal bounds, the system will generate a Health notification that is displayed in the Local Management Interface (LMI) or SiteProtector Console.
