PI51799: CIRCULAR REFERENCE ERROR MESSAGE WHEN THERE ARE SIMILAR EXPRESSIONS

• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• Error message "GEN-ERR-0005 The reference to the query item
  'AllCountry' forms a circular reference". It seems that the
  cause of this issue is from the Allbranch's expression and All
  branch's expression. AllBranch's expression is
  
  "Descendants(set([Americas],[Asia
  Pacific]),[great_outdoors_sales_en].[Sales regions].[Sales
  regions].[Branch])"
  
  while All Branch expression calls for All Country, All Country
  calls for CountriesGroup, and CountriesGroup's expression is
  
  "Descendants(set([Americas],[Asia
  Pacific]),[great_outdoors_sales_en].[Sales regions].[Sales
  regions].[Country])"
  
  Essentially, both expressions are doing the same thing. Cognos
  gets confused (hence circular) because it doesn't see a reason
  for the work to get done twice.
  

Local fix

• 1. Change the slicer (in Query 1) from
  #promptmany('prmEmployee','mun','[All Branch]','set(','',')')#
  to #promptmany('prmEmployee','mun','[AllBranch]','set(','',')')#
  (It deletes the error message but it is not what the customer
  wants)
  2. Delete page break
