PI49408: OAE FAILS WITH ERROR MESSAGE FPX0342E BUT IT'S NOT REALLY A SPACE SHORTAGE AS DOCUMENTED

Error description

• OAE failed with MSGFPX0342E, however it is not a real space
  shortage.  The error appeared as:
    FPX0342E The maximum number of volumes for the Temporary ADS
    is 1, but the size of the extended ADS exceeds the total
    number of CIs available for the device.
  .
  This message was inadvertently issued when it shouldn't have
  been.
  
  Two additional issues addressed:
  1. FPA Analyze function received ABEND0CB HFPA5FI0 at x'0AAA'
     because 1 UOW used more than 100,000 IOVF CIs. ABENDS0CB S0CB
  2. Pointer errors were detected after running the SDEP
     SCAN/DELETE utilities twice against an ADS that had been
     immediatedly reloaded by FPA Reload function.

  * RECOMMENDATION: Apply the maintenance for this APAR.         *

  This APAR addresses the following problems:
  1. OAE Original Expansion issues the DEVTYPE macro and retrieves
  the number of physical cylinders on the device from the word 2
  of the DEVTYPE results, then loads this number to R15 with LH.
  When the volume has more than 65,520 cylinders, the value in R15
  would be negative, which causes OAE to issue FPX0342E
  incorrectly.
  2. FPA ANALYZE got abend S0CB in the module HFPA5FI0, and the
  Hash Check support for IMS HP Image Copy got abend S0CB in the
  module FABAHEXT, because the quotient exceeded the specified
  data size when 1 UOW used more than 100,000 IOVF CIs.
  3. Pointer errors were detected after running the SDEP
  SCAN/DELETE utilities twice against an ADS that had been
  immediately reloaded by FPA Reload function.
  

Problem conclusion

• 1. OAE has been changed to:
  . load the number of cylinders to R15 with ICM.
  . issue a new message FPX0355I to indicate volume-related
  information of the original area data set and the temporary
  area data set.
  . retrieve the number of cylinders in full word format by using
  the INFO=DASD operand of the DEVTYPE macro when the number
  exceeds 65520.
  2.FPA ANALYZE function and Hash Check support for IMS HP Image
  Copy have been changed to enlarge the work areas for very large
  value calculation.
  3. FPA Reload function has been changed to update the next CI
  after the last CI which contains data, to contain a default
  segment.
