Error description

  • DESCRIPTION:
When converting a part into Iges, some surfaces are missing.
Same occur if the part is converted to V4model format.
The problem can also be seen directly when .igs or .model is
    read back into V5
    .
    SCENARIO:
    1. Unload the sent files to a directory.
    2. File open TP32-380_vol05.CATPart
    3. To see problem area, click on the + in Tongue in the tree
then doubleclick on tongue in the subtree, and the spot
with the arrows -> The join between the circle and the
funnel is the problem. But observe that the surfaces are ok.
    4. File "save as" TP32-380_vol05.IGS
    5. File open TP32-380_vol05.IGS
    6. Zoom in onto the place where the circular part join the
funnel. (spot explained in step 3)
    7. Notice that some small part of the surfaces are missing
    .
    FURTHER ANALYZE:
When writing the CATPart as a V4 model you get same problem.
    .
    WORKAROUND (2 ways)
    -VERY TIMECONSUMING-
    A.
    1. Scale the CATPart UP 10 times its desired size
    2. file/write model in V4model format.
    3. Open the model in Catia V4
    4. Scale model DOWN 10 times to get its ond size
    5. CATIGS the model from V4 vand it is OK.
    .
    B.
    1. Double click on one of the surfaces in the problem area.
    2. you get a list of 4 elements to join.
    3. Keep theese elements and delete the rest of the part.
    4. file save as igs file this surfaces and they are on in
    iges.
    5. then filoe save as igs the rest of the part.
    6. You then have to merge the igs files on the receiving
    system.

Comments

  • THIS APAR IS CONSIDERED AS A SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT FOR
    CATIA.

     JUSTIFICATION FOR DEVLOPMENT REQUEST:
THE EXPORT FILE IS OK NOW WITH CATIA V5R09 GA AND CATIA
    V5R8SP05.

The problem is now with this import process which does not
create properly some small faces. A plan was already made
to detect and correct this kind of faces

     ANSWER AND POSSIBLE BY-PASS:
There no BYPASS when importing. Export is OK.
