Error description

  • Environment:
The client machine is running Windows 2000 Professional,
    with servicepack 1
CATIA is running an AL2 configuration with nodelocked
    license
CATIA is installed in version V5R7 and updated with CATIA
    V5R7 servicepack 2
TeamPDM is installed from the CATIA V5R7 TeamPDM CD-ROM
(TeamPDM Version 4.003) and updated with TeamPDM V4
    servicepack 4
Microsoft SQL Server is Version 2000 with servicepack 1
    .
    Scenario:
    .
During the development phase a local TeamPDM database has
    been developed
using the local Interbase database system delivered with
    TeamPDM.
The database is to be moved to a database on a Microsoft SQL
    Server.
The copying of the database is done on the client using the
TeamPDM program SmartDBExplorer using the following
    procedure:
    .
    1. Create a new empty database on the Microsoft SQL Server,
using the Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise Manager.
The database is created in accordance with the documentation
    for TeamPDM
specifically the PDF document "SmarTeam 4.0 and MS SQL 7.0
    Installation.pdf".
    .
    2. A connection alias from the client to the new SQL Server
    database is
set up in the "BDE Administrator" as specified in the
"SmarTeam 4.0 and MS SQL 7.0 Installation.pdf" document.
    .
    3. The SmartDBExplorer program is started and the local
    Interbase
database is selected as the first database to be opened.
    .
    4. The SQL Server database is opened as the second database.
    .
    5. The top level of the local Interbase database is dragged
(with the mouse) to the top level of the SQL Server
    database
to initiate the database copy process.
    .
    6. The administrative username "joe" is entered, with the
    correct
       password.
    .
    7. After some time the following error message appears:
    Info No: 00005
    General database error.
    OK Help DbError
    .
    8. When the button "DbError" is clicked the following
    message appears:
    General SQL errorfloat conversion attempt
    failed, the source is invalid
    OK
    .
    9. When OK is clicked and OK for the previous message is
    clicked
       the copy process continues.
    .
    10. The error messages in step 8 and 9 appears again for
    another table.
    .
    11. When all tables has been copied the process ends with
    the message:
All the tables from 'SourceDB' to 'DestDB' are copied.
    Error(s) happend while copying.
See log file for additional information.
    OK
    .
    12. OK is clicked and the two databases are closed.
    .
above scenario I do not get the errors in step 8 and 9.
    .
The same type of errors occur if I try to use the TeamPDM
    Smart
Wizard program to update the database from the client, with
CATIA V5R7 installed, after I have copied the database to
    the
Microsoft SQL Server using a client machine without CATIA
    installed.
    .
    information:
The problem occur with Catia V5R6 as well as with V5R7 .
The problem (according customer memory) do not occur with
    Catia V5R4
The problem occur on machines where V5R6 has been upgraded
    to V5R7
as well as V5R7 installed on "clean" machines
    .
    from
Windows control panel, problem disappear, and when you
    Install again
the problem also occur again (a switch so to say).
