Question
How can we 'transfer' report specifications from server to server such as DEV to UAT or UAT to PROD in Cognos Analytics 11?
Answer
There are two options:
A) Move the reports manually.
B) Move them all together as a Package.
Steps:
A) Moving the reports manually – see the following Technote for details: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21973886#CA11R5.
B) Moving them all together as a Package
1. Navigate to Server 1’s Content Administration by clicking ‘Manage’ on the home page followed by ‘Administration console’ and then select the ‘Configuration’ tab.
2. Click on new export.
3. Select the package(s) and/or folder(s) which contain the report(s) you wish to export and complete the wizard.
4. Locate ../<Server1>/deployment/<filename>.zip
5. Copy the file to ../<Server2>/deployment/
6. Navigate to Server 2’s Content Administration by clicking ‘Manage’ on the home page followed by ‘Administration console’ and then select the ‘Configuration’ tab.
7. Click on new import.
8. Select the package(s) and/or folder(s) which contain the report(s) you wish to import and complete the wizard.
9. Return to ‘Team content’ to view the reports in the package.
