QRadar: AutoUpdates show Failed in the UI with dependency not provided

Troubleshooting

Problem

There are certain situations when autoupdates show with Failed status on the UI.

Symptom

The following Error is displayed on the Check for Updates panel:
Unable to install DSM-PostFixMailTransferAgent-7.2-20170125121948.noarch.rpm. DSM-PostFixMailTransferAgent-7.2-20170125121948.noarch.rpm is dependent on PROTOCOL-UDPMultilineSyslog -.noarch.rpm but was not able to add it to the dependency table.
Please install PROTOCOL-UDPMultilineSyslog -.noarch.rpm before installing DSM-PostFixMailTransferAgent-7.2-20170125121948.noarch.rpm.

Cause

This is caused by a missing dependency or AutoUpdate packages that are obsolete or deprecated.

Diagnosing The Problem

Most of these errors are of no impact to data collection or parsing logs. To view the status of Auto Update

  1. Log in to the QRadar User Interface.
  2. Click Admin tab > Auto Update icon
  3. Click Check for Updates.

Resolving The Problem

On this example we selected the "PostFixMailTransferAgent" failed to install DSM. This has failed to install for one of these reasons.

  • There is a dependancy that has not been installed. This dependancy will be installed in another AutoUpdate.
  • There is a more current version and this warning will go away when the next version of the DSM has been releases in an AutoUpdate bundle.

You can verify this by running the following command via an SSH connection:

yum list DSM\* | grep -i postfix
DSM-PostFixMailTransferAgent.noarch 7.2-20170125121948

Then go to Fix Central and verify the current version:

If its the same version you will need to wait till an update is posted.
