Unable to upgrade IBM QRadar Network Security firmware version 5.3.x to 5.4.x from the inserted USB flash drive.

Troubleshooting


Problem

Using CLI commands to upgrade IBM QRadar Network Security XGS firmware version to 5.4.x from the inserted USB flash drive fails.

Cause

Since firmware version 5.4.0, the product name for IBM Security Network Protection (XGS) has changed to IBM QRadar Network Security, and the naming prefix of the update file has changed from "ISNP" to "IQNS." As the string IQNS is not identified as a valid update file prefix, files with such prefixes can not be processed to update the firmware.

Resolving The Problem

To update IBM QRadar Network Security firmware version 5.3.x to 5.4.x, perform any of the following tasks:

Via local management interface (LMI)

To select the update file from the Available Updates list,
  1. Click Manage > Available Updates.
  2. Click Refresh.
  3. In the Available Updates list, select the update file for firmware version 5.4.x.
  4. Click Install.

To manually add an update,
  1. Click Manage > Available Updates.
  2. Click Upload.
  3. In the New Update window, click Select Update, browse to the update file, click Open, and then click Submit.
  4. Click Install.

Via command-line interface (CLI)

To upgrade the firmware from the update server,
  1. Type updates.
  2. Type install, select 1 (Firmware), and then select 2 (Server).
  3. Select the update file for firmware version 5.4.x, and then type Yes.

To upgrade the firmware from the USB flash drive,
  1. Rename the file prefix of the update file stored in the USB flash drive from "IQNS" to "ISNP."
  2. Type updates.
  3. Type install, select 1 (Firmware), and then select 1 (USB).
  4. Select the update file you just renamed, and then type Yes.
