HC77677: INCORRECT MANAGEMENT OF FILE EXTENSIONS IN "FILE.SAVE AS..." FILE SELECTION BOX

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• Start a V5 session on Windows:
  . File.Open a CATPart document, which name is xxxx.catpart
    (all characters in extension are lowercase)
  . File.Save as...
    > the default name becomes xxxx.catpart.CATPart
      If the end-user accepts the default name, the document
      name is changed:
        xxxx.catpart becomes xxxx.catpart.CATPart
                                                                 .
  Till 504 level included, the default name became xxxx.CATPart
  (with mixed characters in extension) and the new document
  replaced the old one.
  

Local fix

Problem summary

• A document extension in lowercase characters "catpart" is not
  recognized as a CATIA file extension. So, a new extension
  "CATPart" is added.
  

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON
    CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 7 GA level.
                                                                 .
  The save process is now modified. The "catpart" extension is
  now recognized, and replaced by "CATPart" when saving the file.
  This applies also to other CATIA file extensions.
