Error description

  • Scenario:
    --------
    1. Open the provided part
    2. Double click on the feature "Chamfer offset" under the open
body "Chamfer" and change the offset value for 15mm.
===> Result: a message box appear: update error Offset: Shell
    operator: internal error.
    .
The offset surface does not work in the case of a line in the
profil dissapear but it work if the line is place at the
beginning or at the end of a profil or if the desappearing
    element is an arc.
    .
3.Double click on the feature "Blend offset" under the open body
"Blend" and change the offset value for 15mm.
===> Result:The radius disappear and it works fine.
    .
4.Double click on the feature "Offset line end and start" under
the open body " line end and start" and change the offset value
    for 25mm.
==> Result: the lines disappear and it work fine.

    .
     INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS:
Different error messages for different cases.
    .
     JUSTIFICATION FOR DEVLOPMENT REQUEST:
The offset code works in two steps. The first step offsets the
topology, the second one detects self-intersections and trims
    twisted topology off.
    .
In the case of chamfers, the offset yields twisted topology, but
it is impossible to tell which part of the topology to keep. So
it ends up with a non-manifold surface body, which cause the
error. Note that in the case of a solid chamfer, it works, since
it is easier for us to trim twisted matter off.
    .
In the case of fillets, we know which part to discard, the one
that contains the reversed fillet surface. So it works.
    .
In the last case, the twisted topology lies on the shape border,
so we do not get any non-manifold configuration. So it works
    too.
    .
     ANSWER AND POSSIBLE BY-PASS:
In the case of a chamfer, use a solid shape instead, and extract
    the offset geometry afterwards.
