Question

Are version 9 IBM i2 product licenses compatible with IBM i2 Product Access Management version 8.9?

Answer

The two latest versions of IBM i2 Product Access Management (i2 PAM) are version 8.9 and version 9.0. The only functional difference between these two versions is that version 9 of PAM allows you to specify a port to run the license server on.

i2 PAM licences for these 2 version are also not version specific, meaning that a license designer for a version 9 product (for example IBM i2 Analyst's Notebook 9) will still install and work correctly on an 8.9 i2 PAM server.

If you have mixed versions of products in your environment (for example i2 Analyst's Notebook version 9.0.4 and i2 Analyst's Notebook version 8.9.11) and you have installed your i2 PAM licenses to the server, all the i2 PAM enabled versions of the software will attempt to use a license from the license server regardless of their version.
