Problem
If name resolution is not working, the auto update cannot connect to download updates.
Symptom
When an auto update fails to connect and install an update the following system notification is generated for QID 38750066:

Diagnosing The Problem
The logs can display connection issues or DNS query issues in the logs for administrators. If name resolution fails for any reason when the auto update is run, a system notification is generated and an error message is displayed in the auto update logs.
- Log in to the QRadar Console as an administrator.
- Click the Admin tab.
- Click Auto Update icon.
- Click View Log to verify the Last Update Status.
- If the log displays an error for name resolution, the auto update cannot complete.
Could not contact the update server: 500 Can't connect to auto-update.qradar.ibmcloud.com:443 (getaddrinfo: Temporary failure in name resolution) Could not download manifest list.
Resolving The Problem
For auto update to work, the auto update server address and proxy server address, must be resolved. If the problem is caused by a temporary problem with your DNS server, ensure that your DNS server is functional and available on the network. If you suspect your DNS configuration is incorrect, it must be corrected.
