Non-ASCII characters (for example Russian) not transferred correctly during FAP publish (for example to Account Descriptions)

Troubleshooting

Problem

Customer uses non-ASCII characters (for example Russian characters) in their Controller system. - For example, their account descriptions are Russian. When the customer published the Controller data to TM1 (via the FAP publish process), the Russian characters are replaced with question mark (?) characters. - For example, the account descriptions are similar to: ?????? ?????? ????

Symptom

As an example, imagine a user whose local language is set to Russian:

This user clicks 'Maintain - Account Structure - Define'

  • User can see that each account has its own Russian name (and short name), for example: Необоротные активы

Customer then creates a FAP cube out of this data.

  • User then launches TM1 architect, and opens the cube.
  • User expands ‘Dimensions’
  • User right-clicks on ‘Account’ and chooses ‘Edit Element Attributes...’

User looks at the same account (“A0TTTT”)
  • The RU_short (Text) and RU_long (Text) non-ASCII (Russian) characters are all set to ?????:
