Error description
The customer has created some wireframes. He attached the "Multi section Surface" to these wireframes. In this time, he met the error message when select the Guide Curve. " Multi-sections Surface.1 : Sweep operator: The extrusion of vertex of the profile leads to a cusp. Use a guide with a smaller curvature. " . Scenario : 1. Start CATIA and open the provided CATPart 2. Change the Workbench as "Generative Shape Design". 3. Select the "Multi section Surface" icon Select the curve from "SECT1" to "SECT5" as section curve. Select the curve from "GUIDE_A" to "GUIDE_B" as guide curve. Select "OK". >> error message is displayed. . It is possible to create the surface by selecting the curve from "GUIDE_B" to "GUIDE_A". >> This is a problem. . Why CATIA can't create the surface by the turn of curve selection ? CATIA should create the surface by any selection. It is possible to avoid the error message by using "Deviation" option as "0.01". . .

Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 14 GA level. . Incident Diagnosis The multisection surface computation fails with error message '...leads to a cusp' on a specific modele with 2 guides and 5 sections. . Correction Explanation The middle section falls in a hole smaller than Catia resolution between sweep computation domains computed from guide edges projection on spine. Thus a wrong domain is chosen for this section, leading to an error in sections interpolation. . Tolerance management is improved to avoid a bad domain choice. The Resulting surface is now correct. . Answer and By-Pass Use tolerant modelling options to eliminate guide vertices and obtain only one computation domain. Or shift section position along the guide by a small value. Anyway the problem is fixed now. . .
