Problem conclusion

  • THIS MODIFICATION WILL BE INCLUDED IN CATIA
    DOCUMENTATION DELIVERED WITH CATIA
    VERSION 5 RELEASE 14.
    .
    INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS:
ASSEMBLY DESIGN / MATERIAL : MATERIAL IS
NOT VISIBLE WHEN SUBASSEMBLY IS OPENED IN
    NEW WINDOW.
    .
    DOCUMENTATION REFERNECE:
Infrastructre / Real Time Rendering / Frequently
Asked Questions / Where is stored a material
    applied onto a product
    .
    MODIFCATION:
The last frequently asked question has been
improved and now includes an example for greater
    clarity.
    .
Two scenarios are found in this:
    Scenario 1:
    1. File / open / Product2.CATProduct
    2. Apply material to Product2.CATProduct.
--> the material is applied on product2 node and
    stored in Product2.CATProduct (you agree)
    3. View / render style / shading with material
    4. Start / mechanical design / assembly design
    5. Insert / existing component in Product.1
--> The material, applied on a sub-product node,
is displayed in spec tree and in 3D window, due to
    step 3
    6. Select product.2 open in new window
--> The Product2 contains the material and it is
    displayed
    .
    Scenario 2
    1. Start / mechanical design / assembly design
    2. Insert / existing component in Product.1/
    Product2 is inserted in Product1
    3. Insert / new part / create new circular pad
    4. Activate Product2 and apply material
--> Material is applied on Product2, but stored in
    Product1.CATProduct. The Product2.CATProduct
document is not modified, and "Save Management"
command can show it to you.
    5. View / render style / shading with material
    6. Select product.2 open in new window
--> The Product2 is displayed and do not contain
    any material.
    .
Confusion here is that specification tree is exactly
the same in step 5 of both scenaro, but the
material has not been applied with same manner :
in the first case, the material is stored in Product2,
in the second case it is stored in Product1.
    .
    This is now documented properly.
    .
