Error description

  • Center of Gravity on bent pipe

    Scenario:
Calculation of CG fails on some bends. When this
happens, a portion of the pipe is changed to
SOLIDM and the CG result is blank. This is
inconsistent in that some bent pipes are okay while
    others are not.

    Scenario
    > Using AEC PIPE_DES, creae a bent pipe
    > Run function AECMGMT/ANALYSIS/GEOMETRY.
    > Select pipe. In Geomteric Analysis window,
    select CENTER of GRAVITY

Problem conclusion

  • Incident Diagnosis
When selecting many AEC elements (complete SHD
model of a section or block, or many pipes or
many HVAC parts or many equipments, or (just a
    few) round or rectangular toroids,
    ANALYSIS/GEOMETRY/ABSOLUTE fails to produce
    center-of-gravity, volume or wetted area.

    Correction Explanation
Several corrections and change in algorithm to
    produce the result.
If not a single complete solid can be created,
instead of exiting by error, a new solid will be
started, and the combined COG of these individual
solids will be calculated. There is some (small) risk
of intersecting bodies being counted twice for the
COG (e.g. on equipments) and the wetted area and
    volume being too big...
