Blank or incomplete guard_tap.ini causes red STAP with Guardium STAP service running

Troubleshooting


Problem

With IBM InfoSphere Guardium, sometimes the guard_tap.ini file content may get lost (usually as an undesirable and unintended effect of some external, non Guardium related, action or problem that occurred on the database server). When this happens, the Guardium STAP status shows red on the Guardium appliance despite the GUARDIUM_STAP service is running on the Services Panel.

Symptom

The STAP status is red.

No traffic is being captured.

The GUARDIUM-STAP service is running on the server.

guard_tap.ini content is blank (or incomplete, missing lines).
