Debugging autoconf utility on Linux systems

Troubleshooting

Problem

When configuring the Tivoli Storage Manager passthru drivers on Linux, the autoconf utility could return unexpected results and it can be useful to debug this further.

Resolving The Problem

In order to set up the debug of autoconf utility, the following steps from Linux shell needs to be executed as root:

1. Move to the binary directory:

# cd /opt/tivoli/tsm/devices/bin

2. Run the autoconf utility with flag "-t" that will enable tracing for it:
# ./autoconf -t -a

3. After the execution of autoconf a series of files are generated. Gather and compress the whole data generated:
# tar -xvf autoconf.tar

Provide both autoconf.tar and the "autoconf -t -a" command line output to IBM technical support to further troubleshoot the issue faced with autoconf utility.
