HD03853: UNABLE TO JOIN THE SURFACES

APAR status

• Closed as Permanent restriction.

Error description

• Scenario 1: (Unsuccessful case)
  Workbench: GSD
  1. OPEN   TO0019.CATPart
  2. Menu  Insert / Operations / Join
  3. Select  the Surface.1 and the Fillet.1
  4. Press OK
  5. The update error appears: "Join.1: Invalid Value for
  object type"
  .
  Scenario 2: (Successful case)
  6. Make show the Surface.2 and the Surface.3 and then Hide
  the Fillet.1
  7. Select Surface.1 and Surface.2 as joined elements
  8. Press OK
  9. Joined surface is created
  10. Select menu  Insert / Operations / Shape Fillet
  11. Select Join.1 as the element of Support 1
  12. Select Surface.3 as the element of Support 2
  13. Key in 5.7mm for the Radius
  14. Select both arrows and make them opposite direction
  15. Press OK
  16. Fillet.2 is created successfully.The bottom line is
  that if you do JOIN first and then Fillet,the result is
  successful. But it is not vise versa.
