Error description
Performance of view generation from CGR data is very slow Problem: It takes more time to create a view from the cgr, than in Design mode. Hardware: A31P 1,7Gh with 3/4GB or RAM. Scenario with cgr substituted for the CATProduct: 1) Open the assembly '5cgr53P5760.CATProduct' 2) Create an A0 drawing 3) Create a few isometric views of the assembly. It takes on average 17min 38 sec CPU time to extract the view. This is not acceptable. Extraction from CGR is provided to generate views of very large assemblies. Thus view creation from CGR should be faster since some capabilities are lost such creation of exact dimensions and possibility to create section views. User are expected to get faster results. FYI - Inforamation from PMR 90227 Hardware: A31P 1,7Gh with 1GB or RAM. Scenario 1 in design mode (default option: 1) Open the assembly '5x53P5760.CATProduct' 2) Create an A0 drawing 3) Create a few isometric views of the assembly. It takes on average 1min 30 sec CPU time to extract the view (may be less for the first view). Scenario 2 with cache on: 1) Activate the cache under Tools>Options>Infrastructure>Cache management. 2) Turn ON the option to create views from CGR under Tools>Options>Mechnical Design>Drafting>Generation 3) Restart your CATIA session 4) Open the assembly '5x53P5760.CATProduct' 5) Create an A0 drawing 6) Create a few isometric views of the assembly. This time it takes on average 3min 55 sec to extract a view, approximatively 2.5 time more than in Design mode!

Comments
THIS APAR IS CONSIDERED AS A SUGGESTION FOR IMPROVEMENT FOR CATIA. PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPORT DEPARTMENT IN ORDER TO OPEN A REQUIREMENT FORM. PERFORMANCE OF VIEW GENERATION FROM CGR DATA IS VERY SLOW JUSTIFICATION FOR DEVLOPMENT REQUEST: An enhancement on V5R12 will provide better performances for generation from CGR. For the moment, the CGR generation mode is dedicated to solve memory problems, because the memory cost for assemblies opened in Design mode is too large. The two generation mode (CGR and exact) work on different kind of data, that is why the CPU performances cannot be compared easily.
