Summary

The IBM Security SiteProtector System uses IBM HTTP Server (IHS) for which there is a potential denial of service vulnerability that may impact IHS on Windows. Exploitation of the attack requires local access to the server system.

Vulnerability Details

CVEID: CVE-2015-1829

DESCRIPTION: Apache Portable Runtime is vulnerable to a denial of service, caused by an error when using APR named pipe support on Windows. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause a pipe squatting attack from a local process.

Remediation/Fixes

The remediation for this issue is to apply the appropriate eXPress Update (XPU) for the SiteProtector Update Server component.

By default this component is automatically updated by SiteProtector. If not set to be automatically updated, the user can select the component from the SiteProtector Console Agent view and manually initiate the update. Please note that the same XPU version applies to both releases of SiteProtector.


For SiteProtector 3.0:

Update Server Component: UpdateServer_3_1_1_3.pkg

For SiteProtector 3.1.1:

Update Server Component: UpdateServer_3_1_1_3.pkg


This update is also available to be manualy downloaded from the IBM Security License Key and Download Center at https://ibmss.flexnetoperations.com/service/ibms/login
