Error description

  • AMG / MULTI AXIS HELIX MACHINING / BAD
TOOLPATH IS GENERATED FOR THE DEFINED
    OPERATION
    .
    1. Open the attached CATProcess.
    2. Expand the specification tree to machining
    operations.
    3. A Multi-Axis Helix Machining operation is defined.
    4. Force compute the toolpath and observed the
    tool path generated.
    5. It can be observed that, bad tool path is
    generated for this operation.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    .
    Incident Diagnosis
AMG / MULTI AXIS HELIX MACHINING / BAD
TOOLPATH IS GENERATED FOR THE DEFINED
    OPERATION
    .
    Restriction Explanation
The tool path is not smooth because several faces
are selected and the transition bewteen two faces
can not be managed smoothly with the algorithm
    for Helix.
    .
    By-Pass
The operation must be split in 2 operations :
    - first, mill the upper part of the blade
    - second, mill the fillet base of the blade.
