Local fix

Problem summary

  • Product Structure / Opening the Product takes longer on R16
    than R12 on a HP-UX machine.
    Scenario:

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION
    5 RELEASE 18 GA level.
    NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED
    ON V5R16SP08 and V5R17SP02.
    .
    Incident Diagnosis :
    Product Structure : opening the Product takes too
    long when opening in Assembly Design workbench
    on HP. This performance problem is due to the
    updatestatus computation (as there is no update
    icon to manage in Product Structure workbench,
    this explains the difference between Assembly and
    Product Structure).
    .
    During the update status computation a service
    'CATAsmGetPrdRefInAsmTree' is called to get the
    list of all reference products in the assembly
    (this list is browsed and exploited afterwards).
    To insure that each Reference is only added once
    in the list, a Locate is performed and the
    reference is added only if it is not found.
    .
    The complexity of such an algorithm is O(n*n/4);
    in the customer data there are 25941 different
    reference products: n=25941...
    .
    Correction Explanation :
    the algorithm is modified : instead of using a
    CATLISTV(CATBaseUnknown) + Locate, a
    Hashtable + Insert is used.
    .
    The complexity of the new algorithm is O(n), and
    the result is a lot better now.
    .
    To spare one list scan, we integrate the
    algorithm content directly in its caller.
    .
    Answer and By-Pass
    Improvements have been provided in HP on these
    levels : the performance has been decreased in -
    39%.
    .
