  • PS / DESIGN MODE OPTION IN CONTEXT MENU
    GRAYED OUT WHEN SAVE DENSITY IN CGR
    OPTION CHECKED
    Scenario.
    .
    1. In CATIA create and then Save a New
    CATProduct, Product1
    2. In CATIA create and then Save a New CATPart,
    Part1
    3. Close the CATPart and CATProduct.
    4. Open the CATProduct, Product1
    5. Using Insert Existing Component, Insert the
    CATPart Part1 into the CATproduct.
    6. Right click on the inserted Part1 and choose
    Representations | Manage representations
    a. Associate a Representation and choose a
    V4 .model file.
    b. Activate the V4 representation and then close
    the representations dialog.
    c. The .model will now be visible and in
    visualization format.
    Case A: CGRFormat.CATSettings does NOT exist
    ( Tools->Options->Infrastructure->Product
    Structure ->Cgr
    Management -> Applicative Data -> Save Desity in
    CGR OFF)
    7. Right click the Part1 instance and choose
    representations
    8. The option to switch to Design Model is available.
    .
    Repeat the scenario with following option turned ON.
    Case B: CGRFormat.CATSettings does exist
    ( Tools->Options->Infrastructure->Product
    Structure ->Cgr
    Management -> Applicative Data -> Save Density
    in CGR ON)
    9. Right click the Part1 instance and choose
    representations
    10. The option to switch to Design Mode is not
    available.

    Expected Result.

    The design mode option should not be grayed out.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    .
    Restriction Explanation
    Cache Mode has not been designed to be used with
    MultiRepresentation nodes
    .
    Bypass.
    .
    Insert the same Part, in the same session, as the
    CATPart and the Model was already associated
    once , CGR file exists and User can see Design
    mode option.
    .
