Error description
FTA / INCORECT DISPLAY OF EXTENSION LINE . 1 Open attached CATPart. Workbench: Functional Tolerancing & Annotation. . // In the case of XY plane. // 2 Click Front View/Annotation Plane icon. 3 Select XY plane on the geometry area. =>Front View.1 is created. 4 Click Dimensions icon. 5 Select 1 face in the solid on the geometry area. 6 Select 1 face in the solid on the geometry area. 7 Click somewhere on the geometry area 3 times. =>Dimension.1 is created. 8 Move Dimension.1. =>One of the extension line of dimension departs from geometry. This is problem. . // In the case of YZ plane. // 9 Click Front View/Annotation Plane icon. 10 Select YZ plane on the geometry area. =>Front View.2 is created. 11 Click Dimensions icon. 12 Select 1 face in the solid on the geometry area. 13 Select 1 face in the solid on the geometry area. 14 Click somewhere on the geometry area 3 times. Dimension.2 is created. 15 Move Dimension.2. The extension line of dimension departs from geometry. >>>This is problem. . < Result > The extension line of dimension depart from geometry when the faces of solid are measured. This is problem. . < Result to expect > The extension line of dimension should touch geometry in all case. Because contact is setting as standard. .

Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION 5 RELEASE 18 GA level. NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED ON V5R17SP01 AND ON V5R16SP06. . Incident Diagnosis: In some specific conditions, FTA dimension algorithm calculating dimension between two planes fails to point extension lines to the referenced geometry. In given cases the current algorithm unable to point extension line to the top and bottom of given Part. . Correction Explanation: Now the algorithm is corrected. The modified algorithm is corrected so as to give correct representation of extension line. . Answer and bypass. No bypass available. .
