Error description

  • COMPOSITE DESIGN / GENERATING EXPLODED
    PLIES WITH CUT-PIECE DUPLICATES THE
    EXPLODED PLIES.
    .
    SCENARIO:
    1.) Open CATPart in Composite Design workbench
    2.) Activate the composite design workbench
    3.) Create exploded plies for plies group.1
    3a.) Insert => Plies => ply exploder
    3b.) Select shell constant offset option
    3c.) Set scale to 10
    4.) Regenerate exploded plies for plies group.1
    with new options
    4a.) Insert => Plies => ply exploder
    4b.) Select draped tessellated surface option
    4c.) Set scale to 20
    NOTE: old exploded surfaces are replaced with the
    new ones.
    5.) Generate exploded plies for Cut-Pieces
    5a.) Insert => Plies => ply exploder
    5b.) Select 'take cut pieces into account'
    5c.) Select shell constant offset option
    5d.) Set scale to 10
    .
    OBSERVATION:
    Additional exploded surface geometry is created.
    This can cause problems in viewing the cross-
    sections generated in DMU. The exploded plies for
    the plies and cut-pieces cannot be managed
    independently with the contextual menus.
    Therefore, the contextual 'hide/show' and 'delete'
    exploded surface options are all or nothing. The
    user must delete all the exploded plies and
    recreate. Alternatively, manually delete the
    unwanted exploded surfaces.
    .
    EXPECTED RESULT:
    Previously generated exploded plies are replaced
    with the new exploded surfaces representing the
    cut-piece geometry. Ideally, user would be warned
    that exploded geometry exists for the plies and
    given the option to delete and continue, keep and
    continue, or cancel the operation.
    This is also true if the cut-piece exploded plies are
    generated first and then the exploded plies are
    generated for the plies.
