Security Bulletin
Summary
The Logjam Attack on TLS connections using the Diffie-Hellman (DH) key exchange protocol affects Rational Integration Tester component in Rational Test Workbench, and Rational Test Control Panel component in Rational Test Workbench and Rational Test Virtualization Server
Vulnerability Details
CVE ID: CVE-2015-4000
Description: The TLS protocol could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information, caused by the failure to properly convey a DHE_EXPORT ciphersuite choice. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability using man-in-the-middle techniques to force a downgrade to 512-bit export-grade cipher. Successful exploitation could allow an attacker to recover the session key as well as modify the contents of the traffic. This vulnerability is commonly referred to as "Logjam".

Affected Products and Versions
Rational Integration Tester component in Rational Test Workbench, and Rational Test Control Panel component in Rational Test Workbench and Rational Test Virtualization Server versions:
- All versions from 8.0 up to and including 8.7.0.2
Remediation/Fixes
The fixes for the CVE(s) mentioned above have been incorporated into an interim fix available on IBM Fix Central.
Upgrade your installation as follows:
- Download the interim fix entitled either 'Rational-RTW-JavaPatch-LogJam' or 'Rational-RTVS-JavaPatch-LogJam' and unzip the contents into a temporary directory
- Locate the sub-directory from within the extracted zip relevant to your version of the product (the sub-directories are named by version)
- Exit Rational Integration Tester if it is open and stop Rational Test Control Panel, agents and proxies if they are running
- Copy the java.security file from within the appropriate sub-directory located in step (2) into the following product install locations:
- RationalIntegrationTester/jre/lib/security
- RationalTestControlPanel/jre/lib/security
- RIT-Agent/jre/lib/security
- RIT-Platform/jre/lib/security (only for versions earlier than 8.7)
- Note the default install location is C:\Program Files\IBM (Windows) or /opt/IBM (AIX / Linux / Solaris)
- Restart the products
Notes:
- When updating an installation to a later version, the security fix detailed above will have to be re-applied after the update
- You should verify applying this configuration change does not cause any compatibility issues. If you change the default setting after applying the fix, you will expose yourself to the attack described above. IBM recommends that you review your entire environment to identify other areas where you have enabled the Diffie-Hellman key-exchange protocol used in TLS and take appropriate mitigation and remediation actions.
- For the unsupported version 5.4.0, IBM recommends upgrading to a fixed, supported version of the product.
