• FTA 3D Annotation cannot be created. This problem
  occurs with specific Settings. The following
  message is given : Invalid data contained in
  document
  By-pass : select OK in the window Fail to create 3D
  annotations, then select Text with Leader icon
  again and select the face : it will work fine

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION
  5 RELEASE 17 GA level.
  NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED
  ON V5R15SP05 AND V5R16SP01
  Incident Diagnosis
  The standard used when creating a tolerancing
  set is specified by user with the Tools/Options
  command. The xml file for the standard defined in
  the settings doesn't exist. So, the standard isn't
  correctly set and annotations can't be created.
  Correction Explanation
  We have to check whether the standard specified in
  the settings can be set for 3D annotations. If it isn't
  the case, ISO will be utilized instead.
  Answer and By-Pass
  Choose an available standard with the
  Tools/Options command.
