HD83305: IDF FILE CAN'T BE OPENED

APAR status

• Closed as program error.

Error description

• IDF file can't be opened
  SCENARIO:
  1. Start CATIAV5
  2. File/Open/"Sample.idf"
  >>Open the window as "Circuit Board Design"
  3. Check to ON, "Draw only" from Holes options
  4. Press OK
  5. Press OK from "Undo Killer Command" box
  .
  RESULT:
  CATIA goes into loop. The file cannot be read
  .
  EXPECTED RESULT:
  Should be able to read IDF file
  .

Problem conclusion

• THIS PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED ON CATIA VERSION
  5 RELEASE 20 GA LEVEL.
  NOTE THAT THIS PROBLEM WILL ALSO BE FIXED
  ON V5R19SP05
  .
  INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS
  Creation and updation of large number of pockets
  feature leads to high memory and time
  comsumption. Hence IDF file import takes long
  time.
  .
  CORRECTION EXPLANATION
  When number of pocket are very large in board
  then :-
  (1). All Non Intersecting(not intersecting
  with "board profile" and not intersecting with
  other inner profiles )profiles are created as
  inner profiles inside the "board sketch".
  (2). And the intersecting profiles are created
  as "POCKET FEATURES"
  ANSWER AND BY-PASS
  In such cases where number of pockets are very
  high, instead of creating circular pocket features,
  creating holes will give better performance.
