Error description

  • SCENARIO:
    1.  Start CATIA V5 in visualization mode
    2. Open the assembly "*ASY1.CATProduct"
    (Ignore "File not found" errors)
    3. Click on pull-down menu "File-> Desk"
    4. Run CATDUA on the root-level CATProduct
    .
    OBSERVATION:
    CATIA crashes

Problem summary

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS:
    CATIA crashes on running CATDUA on an
    assembly.
    .
    RESTRICTION EXPLANATION:
    The assembly size is very big and memory
    consumption required by the CATDUA operation
    through File>Desk is very high.
    Because of this high Memory consumption, the
    actual memory required for the operation exceeds
    the memory of the system and hence system
    automatically closes CATIA.
    As the problem is related to the memory
    consumption of the system and not related to
    CATIA, there is no such possible fix for this
    problem on CATIA.
    The problem is not with CATIA but with the system
    on which CATIA is being run.

    BY-PASS:
    For cleaning the complete assembly it would be
    recommended to clean the CATProducts in
    CATDUA batch separately or at least the assembly
    should be broken into small units so as to avoid
    memory violation.
