IBM Support

Trying to move a sub folder leads to its parent folder disappearing from the Explorer

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to move a sub folder, using the IBM Rational Design Manager(DM) web client, may result in the parent folder and the sub folder both disappearing from the Explorer, due to the fact that the parent folder becomes parent of itself.

Symptom

Steps to reproduce using the Design Manager Web Client:

  1. Create a folder called ParentFolder, in the Explorer

  2. Add a new folder called SubFolder to the ParentFolder

  3. Click on the Pencil icon on the right side of the SubFolder's Properties page (click to enlarge)

Expected Result: The Add Folder dialog pops up and you can choose which folder you want to move the SubFolder to.
Actual result: The Edit Folder dialog for the ParentFolder pops up instead.

If you then click on the Pencil to edit the location of the folder and choose the ParentFolder as the target,

and save the change,

the folder ParentFolder and its children disappear from the Explorer.

and the model view point will show undefined:

  5. Note that now the ParentFolder is visible again in the Explorer, and it also contains the SubFolder as expected:
