Error description
SCENARIO: 1. Start CATIA V5 2. Open CATPart W/B GSD. 3. Expand tree of "Part Body". 4. Click "Edge Fillet" command. "Edge Fillet Definition" window is displayed. 5. Select Edge of ThickSurface.1. Key-in 2mm as "Radius". Select "Intersection" as "Propagation". 6. Click "OK". "EdgeFillet.1" is created. 7. Double Click "Sketch.1" in tree. "Sketcher" W/B is started. 8. Delete "Line.6" and recreate a new line with tangency to "Circle.1". 9. Exit "Sketcher" W/B. . OBSERVATION 1: "Update Diagnosis" error is displayed on "EdgeFillet.1". Error message: Edges or face not found Re-select the edge or face on current geometry. . 10. Close the message and delete the fillet created. 11. Perform steps 4-6. again 12. Upgrade the new edge fillet created. 11. Perform steps 7- 9. . OBSERVATION 2: Update error is not displayed. Automatic reroute operation is performed correctly and the fillet is ok. Although feature created release and upgraded release are same, the behavior is different. .

Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA INCIDENT DIAGNOSIS: Tangent intersection edges in edge fillet are updated after recreating geometry in the sketch. . RESTRICTION EXPLANATION: The edge selected for filleting is a Tangent Edge and not a Tangent Intersection Edge. Tangent Intersection Edge is an edge generated by an operation such as Boolean, trim, etc. These edges are calculated based on the intersection of two faces and hence the calculation results are not much i.e. the number of possible edges for such cases are few. The Re-routing algorithm takes into account the feasibility and stability of every possible edge. When any changes are made to such edges the automatic re-routing algorithm has less number of possibilities to be taken into account and hence the algorithm can make the correct choice easily. In case of Tangent Edge also, the proposed edges for calculation exist but the number of possible edges are many. Automatic re-routing algorithm cannot make choice of correct edge for re-routing. The only correct way is to do manual re-routing of the edge. . BY-PASS Manual reroute of the edge solves the problem. .
