Error description

  • GSD: The result of the Draft Analysis is different
    for each Graphic Card
    .
    Preparation:
Set option : Highlight faces and edges : OFF
    .
    Scenario:
    1. Open the "XXX.CATPart" (Open attached part)
    2. Click on the "Shading with material" icon.
    3. Click on the "Draft Analysis" and select Face.
Problem: The result is different for each Graphic
    Card
    .
    Expected Result:
The result should be same even if Graphic Card is
    different.

Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    Incident Diagnosis
The result of the draft analysis is different between
    FX1400 and FX1700.
    .
    Restriction Explanation
FX1700 is a more powerful card than FX1400. It
can manage a maximum texture image of 8192
pixels whereas the maximum texture size is 4096
pixels with FX1400. Since the precision of the
command is related to the maximum texture size
(the bigger, the more precise), draft analysis with
FX1700 is more precise than with a FX1400.
Since FX1700 is more precise than FX1400, it
cannot give the same result otherwise it would
    logically not be more precise.
    .
Draft Analysis was always presented as having a
precision of 0.1deg and it is even written in the
    documentation.
    .
So for the example of the face that has a draft
angle of 0, the analysis will give a result between -
0.1 and +0.1 so it can be red or blue.
    .
    By-Pass
If the user wants to be sure that a face is greater
than 0, the limit can be modified to 0.1.
    .
Turn the shader mode ON by checking
    Tools/Options/Display/Performance/Enable OpenGL
Shader This mode does not use a texture image so
it will not be impacted if 2 cards have different
    maximum texture size.
    .
