STCAI: CATPart with the lowercase extension cannot be opened . Preparation:(Please see attached ppt file) 1. Launch "Applications Setup", Select "CATIA Part", Click "Tools" Button. 2. In Edit Tab, Select "CATIA Part", Click "Modify" Button. 2-1. Set "CAIOpen.exe" as Command line. 2-2. Check "Enable CFO for life cycle operations" and "Check Out". 3. In View Tab, Select "CATIA Part", Click "Modify" Button. 3-1. Set "CAIOpen.exe" as Command line. 3-2. Another settings as follows. . Scenario: 1. Launch CATIA V5. 2. STCAI: Connect, Login "joe". 3. STEDR: MB3 on catpart with the lowercase extension, File Operation, Open as read-only. . KO: Open Error as "Document cannot be read" . Additional Information: 1. The customer has about 300,000 CATIA models with the lowercase extension. For example, catpart, catproduct, catdrawing, catanalysis etc. 2. The customer has about 150 SMARTEAM Clients. 3. Recently, the customer upgraded to SMARTEAM V5R17 level. . .

Problem conclusion
THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN CATIA Incident Diagnosis . CATPart with the lowercase extension cannot be opened . Restriction Explanation Lower case extensions are not supported by CAI . By-Pass A Migration procedure to correct the extension case is provided to the customer .
