Error description

  • ABSTRACT: VOLUME DENSITY DOES NOT TAKE
    THE MATERIAL INTO CONSIDERATION
    SCENARIO
    0) Start CATIA V5R18SP4.
    1) Open the file : "I01002.CATPart".
    Workbench : "Generative Shape Design".
(Please confirm that the aluminum is applied
    to "Volume Extrude.1".)
    2) Click "Measure Inertia" icon. "Measure Inertia"
    dialog box is displayed.
    3) Select "Volume Extrude.1" on the tree. This is
    key point.
"Measure Inertia" dialog box is expanded.
Density is "1000kg_m3". This is problem.
RESULT :The volume density does not take the
material density into consideration when the
    volume was measured.
EXPECTED RESULT: The volume density should
take the material density into consideration when
    the volume was measured.
(In this scenario, it is "2710kg_m3".)

Comments

  • Incident Diagnosis
Volume density does not take the material into
    consideration
    Correct Application
The density is that of the material, if any, applied
to a product, part or part body
Hence as defined above, inertia calculation will take
material applied into account applied to a product,
part or part body and not to Geometrical Set.
So inertia measured in case of Geometrical Sets
will not have any effect of material applied to it,if
    any.
