Comments

  • THIS APAR IS CONSIDERED AS A SUGGESTION
    FOR IMPROVEMENT FOR CATIA.
PLEASE CONTACT YOUR SUPPORT DEPARTMENT IN
ORDER TO OPEN A REQUIREMENT FORM.
    Incident Diagnosis:
For OTF font, DBCS character in text (mostly
Japanese characters, represented with 2 bytes) is
displayed as '?' when drawing is saved to PDF.
This is because OTF font is embedded in PDF as
Simple Font (of type TrueType, as said in CATIA
    user documentation). For interpreting DBCS
characters stored in PDF, a font should be of
Complex type. Refer: PDF Reference (Adobe
Systems Inc) section 5.6 Complex Fonts
    .
    Development Justification:
There are some shortcomings for OTF embedding
in PDF. Streaming all OTF as Complex font in PDF
is a big development a through research and
development is needed to provide correct behavior.
