IBM Rational Quality Manage ships with the Apache Commons File Upload library which contains a security vulnerability that could potentially be exploited to cause a denial of service attack.

A prior security bulletin Security vulnerability in IBM Jazz Team Server affects multiple IBM Rational products based on IBM Jazz technology (CVE-2014-0050) addresses this vulnerability for multiple Rational products. The correction in that security bulletin was insufficient for Rational Quality Manager. This security bulletin indicates new remediations that provide further corrections for the below vulnerability. These further corrections apply only for the Rational Quality Manager product, and are not needed for the other products.

Description: Apache Commons FileUpload is vulnerable to a denial of service attack. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability to cause the application to enter into an infinite loop.

Remediation/Fixes

A fix is available by upgrading to the 5.0.2 release or later.


For the 4.x releases upgrade to version 4.0.7 iFix 3 or later.
For the 3.x releases upgrade to version 3.0.1.6 iFix 4 or later.
For the 2.x releases, contact IBM support for additional details on the fix.
