Error description

  • PART: HYBRID PARTBODY NOT DISPLAYED IN THE
GEOMETRY AREA WHEN COPY-PASTED AS RESULT
    IN NON-HYBRID.
    .
    SCENARIO.
    1. Start CATIA V5R17SP03. Refer to the .ppt file
    attached.
    2. Open the file: Part1.CATPart. Workbench:
    PartDesign.
    3. Check the data. There is the Symmetry solid
which was created in Hybrid design environment.
    This is the KEY POINT.
    4. Select Tools/Option by menu bar. Options dialog
    box is displayed.
    5. Select Infrastructure/ Part infrastructure/ Part
    Document tab.
    6. Check Off the Enable hybrid design inside part
    bodies and bodies option.
    7. Click OK button. The icon of PartBody is changed
    to yellow.
    8. Click PartBody in the tree by MB3, Select Copy
    in the context menu.
    9. Click Part1 in the tree by MB3, Select Paste
Special in the context menu. Paste Special dialog
    box is displayed.
    10. Select As Result in the dialog box.
    11. Click OK button.
    12. Hide the PartBody. Expand the tree in the
Body.1. Solid.1 and Solid.2 are displayed in the
tree but not displayed in the geometry area. This is
    the problem.
Error: PartBody not displayed in the geometry area
    when copy-pasted as Result.

Problem conclusion

  • Incident Diagnosis
Hybrid Partbody not displayed in the
geometry area when copy-pasted as result
    in non-hybrid.
    Restriction Explanation
Copy/Paste must not be executed from
    Hybrid environment to non hybrid
environment. There are certain rules which
applies to Hybrid environment but may not
apply to Non-hybrid result and due to this
transformation the Linearity of the data is
disturbed and the data can get corrupted or
an invalid data will be created which can
cause future problems to the user. Hence
disabling hybrid design for objects that were
created in hybrid environment will not
    recreate geometry of non-
    hybrid objects.
This behavior is completely forbidden in
case of PowerCopy command and the
development is working to restrict this
    partial behavior in Copy/Paste operation.
If the user deletes the Symmetry feature
and then tries to Copy/Paste only Pad then
there is no problem is observed. This is
because the PAD is a Solid creation feature
and does not undergo a transformation
    form hybrid environment to non-
    hybrid environment. A Hybrid-body
undergoes a transformation when it goes to
    a non-hybrid environment. That?s why user
can paste the Pad in the non-hybrid body
and soon this would be also forbidden in
    Copy/Paste.However the user must
avoid pasting the Hybrid-Body (even if it
contains a Pad) in a non-hybrid Part. The
Symmetry does not have a Solid Geometry
as StartUp. The Symmetry is an operation
that results to a feature named
Symmetry.x but the result is not a Solid
Geometry even if the operation is done on
    a Solid Geometry.
Hence it is not copied and pasted as result
    from hybrid to non-hybrid environment.
See Inclusion rules table in CATIA
    documentation.
