Problem conclusion

  • THIS PROBLEM IS PERMANENT RESTRICTION IN
    CATIA
    .
    Incident Diagnosis.
    .
A section with volume cut is not shown filled.
    .
    Restriction Explanation.
    .
User selects the plane by choosing geometrical
target - XY Plane( which is at X=0,Y=0,Z=0), at
this selection, the section plane cuts exactly at the
frontier of the Pad feature which represents a
    cylinder.
To create a filled section, a closed contour is
needed and then it is filled to show a volume cut.
In this particular case, a section
polyline result a mix between intersection of
section plane and Pad1 feature , and sectionplane
and Pad2 feature. Hence a single closed contour is
NOT obtained which can be used to fill and show
the result and hence user sees the section as NOT
    filled.
Also it is NOT possible to identify a single contour
from two contours , which can be closed . It is
    because of performance reason.
    .
    Bypass
User can position the section plane by using Z-
normal. When user selection is Z-normal then the
section plane is not positioned at X=0,Y=0 and
Z=0. Hence user will get a section which has closed
contour and thus showing the filled section.
    .
