Performance test using IP addresses fails to start

Troubleshooting

Problem

Attempts to start a performance test in Rational Integration Tester (RIT) result in "[CRRIT8451E] Could not open project on agent"

Symptom

You wish to run a performance test on a remote server.

You have configured the Agent in the Physical View of Architecture School of RIT to use the IP address of your server instead of the hostname.

When you start a performance test you see the following failure in the RIT test console:

Load Generating Test: Added agent http://192.168.1.99:4476
Initialising: Tests/Perf Test
Created API for agent: http://192.168.1.99:4476 (communicating on: http://loadServer.domain.com:41819)
[Error] [CRRIT8451E] Could not open project on agent http://192.168.1.99:4476 (NO_CONNECTION) - [CRRIT8456E] Failed to connect to the agent as connection is invalid
[Error] [CRRIT8529E] Error executing test: [CRRIT8551E] Unknown exception whilst attempting to execute a performance test, [CRRIT8533E] Failed to start all agents.
Summarizing performance test data...
Summarizing performance test data completed
[Error] [CRRIT8531E] Tests/Perf Test: exited due to error

The Agent log file contains the following line:

INFO: TestEngine (0): has exited

If you increase the logging you do not see additional messages relating to the exit.
