Native Memory Considerations for Initiate MDS and InfoSphere MDM SE

Question & Answer

Question

We are observing very high memory utilization coming from MDM SE process in one of our servers. The following two observations are particularly concerning to our system administrator: 1. We have a maximum heap for MDM set to a few GB (typically 1 to 6) but the overall memory used is much higher (many tens of GB, say 30-50GB). 2. Memory tends to grow during peak load or specific batch jobs and the allocated memory does not come down during non peak hours. Why are we seeing the above behavior and can we limit our memory footprint?
